Less is more in Health Care

This post is from the book I am reading Gut Feelings.
The book has a chapter on Health care and how doctors are afraid and feel they have to test every patient so they can be sure that they don't miss something.  In other words doctors feel they have to test for cancer and everything else just because you reach a certain age (which I haven't reached yet) just in the small case that you do get cancer you won't sue them for not finding it.  Doctors don't even provide you with the choice a lot of times they will just order the tests and not provide you with the benefits or possible risks of the test or if the test is even beneficial at all at diagnosing the problem.  All I can say is make sure you research any test that your doctor recommends before taking and don't be afraid to refuse to take a test.  Doctors today are not looking out for your best interest they are making sure you don't sue them for missing something.  By the way according to the book the two types of people who get the best level of treatment are doctors and lawyers.  And by best treatments I mean less testing and better care.
